Peter Davis – Artwalk May 9th
Peter Davis is a seventh-generation Galvestonian and served as the island’s Beach Patrol Chief for 20 Years. Davis attended Trinity University in San Antonio, where he graduated in 1987 with a psychology degree. His intention was to become an art therapist. He received a graduate degree in fine arts from the University of California, Davis in 1997, but professionally he’s forged a career in aquatics.
He served as the project Art Director for the Seawall Mural Project, located between 27th and 61st streets. The Seawall mural “celebrates the diversity of gulf coast marine life and our continuing relationship with the environment,” Davis said. The framework of the art was also designed by Davis.
“My goal in creating this mural was to expose and promote the rich and varied experience of the Texas coastal region,” Davis said. “I wanted it to be a celebration of our successes and a warning about potential for failure in our relationship with our fragile natural environment.”
